SNPWG - The Harbour authority
SNPWG is a subsidiary of the Hydrographic Services and Standards Committee (HSSC). Its work is subject to HSSC approval.
The WG has to develop guidelines for the preparation of nautical publications, in a digital format compatible with ECDIS.
A Nautical Publication is a special-purpose book, or a specially compiled database, that is issued officially by or on the authority of a Government, authorized Hydrographic Office or other relevant government institution and is designed to meet the requirements of marine navigation.
One intermediate step is to develop a comprehensive collection of information to be modelled. SNPWG has adopted the Port of Micklefirth idea; an imaginary port somewhere E of Africa used to check the functionality of ENC validation tools.
The List of Radio Signals part consists of a link to the harbour "Port of Micklefirth". To give that a more reality, SNPWG decided to create this little "Port of Micklefirth" web-site. Refer to Impressum for disclaiming information.
